I remember reading the diary of anne frank play when I was in grade school. Then it seemed like a story, it turned to reality when i visited the anne frank house. this is her statue which is right around the corner.  

The highlight of brussels was the expo from the 60s, the most grand structure is the atomium. inside each of the supported balls holds inhabital space. the top is a restaurant, but as you can see there is a crane back there, so the whole thing was closed...isnt that how it always works?
